Hey, updates have been coming along pretty smoothly lately, right? Even I’m surprised — looks like I’ve found my recording rhythm.
First, a quick life update: I recently took my family camping near Sun Moon Lake (日月潭). The campsite had no sandbox or slides, and we ended up not needing any of it. And we left our stuff outside overnight — not a single thing got stolen. It really hits you that the most beautiful scenery in Taiwan is the people.
That got me thinking about something I ran into at work called “Vibe Code.” AI is getting closer and closer to our everyday lives. Honestly, I think this is the beginning of an M-shaped society (社會財富兩極化 — wealth polarization) — not just in work, but in personal finance too. The strong get stronger, and the weak… well, you know.

What’s in This Episode
I’m a lazy person when it comes to money — and the reason is simple. I don’t want to get rich overnight, because the higher the expectations, the bigger the disappointment. The most fundamental principle of personal finance is this: put money in and let it grow slowly within a range you can handle. That’s all there is to it.
A listener sent me a DM asking: “Lazy Da, how exactly do I save money?” This episode answers that directly:
- You’re not “spending money” — you’re “buying assets”: Once you truly understand this, you’ve graduated. If what you buy gives no return, it’s consumption. If it does, it’s investment.
- My savings method is even more brutal: The moment my paycheck hits, I set up a regular fixed-amount investment (dollar-cost averaging, 定期定額) to pull that first — credit card bills? Those wait in line. That’s where discipline comes from.
- Why ETFs work for lazy people: Human nature is our worst enemy — we hold on through dips and hesitate to sell when things go up. ETFs go up over the long run, so you just keep buying in and mindlessly hold. That’s the whole strategy.
That’s basically it. And hey, if you have questions — same as always — drop them in the comments or DM me. I’ll reply when I see them. The more you ask, the more I have to talk about, right? Please, please — leave a 5-star review. Thanks!
