NVIDIA Adds US$150 Billion to Its Buyback — Dividend Lovers, Hold On | Dividends vs Buybacks
On 2026-09-28 NVIDIA announced another US$150 billion share buyback …
Data as of: 2026-11-06. Revenue figures from Anthropic’s official announcement and SEC S-1; as of 11/6, the amended S-1 filed 11/2 still leaves the price range, share count and date blank. IPO details change quickly; rely on Anthropic’s and the SEC’s latest documents.
This short got 13,000 plays on Facebook. This post answers one question: should you rush into the Anthropic IPO?
The conclusion in three sentences:
Where I stand: Anthropic isn’t listed yet, and I don’t hold its shares. My core holdings are 0050, the S&P 500 and QQQ.
Anthropic is the company that makes the AI assistant Claude.
Filing to go public isn’t the same as being public. Until the price is out, it’s too early to call it cheap or expensive.
First, clarify the numbers:
| Revenue | |
|---|---|
| Full-year 2025 | about US$4.6 billion |
| First half 2026 | about US$16.3 billion |
| Multiple | about 3.54× |
This is “half a year” vs “the previous full year” — not 3.54× year-over-year growth, and certainly not profit.
I think two things are key:
Usage-based pricing cuts both ways. If customers use less next month, they pay less.
But Anthropic’s compute contracts may already be signed for years. Revenue can drop while the bills don’t, which hits profits directly.
Google, for example, sells compute to Anthropic while building its own AI. Anthropic effectively has to compete with its own supplier for customers.
This is the most overlooked point with IPOs. If the next several years of growth are already reflected in the listing price, merely growing slower than expected can send the stock down. Revenue could keep rising while your shares don’t.
Revenue growing this fast is impressive, of course.
But if you want to buy the stock, you have to look at what it has to pay, and the price you pay, together.
If you’re simply bullish on AI as an industry, you don’t have to bet on a single new listing. Index ETFs like QQQ and the S&P 500 already hold many large AI-related companies; and a new listing that’s big enough and meets the criteria may later be added to the index.
A good company isn’t automatically a good stock; look at the price you pay too.
